With data technologies advancing rapidly and collaboration more critical than ever, SNIA has reimagined how organizations engage with its global community. At the heart of this transformation is a new membership model—one that breaks down silos, removes financial barriers, and makes it easier for companies to participate in the development of standards, education, and technical innovation.

One Membership. Many Communities. Unlimited Potential.

Launched in December 2024, the new membership model removes company-based revenue tiering and eliminates separate fees to join SNIA Forums, Initiatives, and Technology Affiliates. Now, once a company becomes a SNIA member, they are free to join and contribute to any Community, at no additional cost.

Members are already taking advantage of the opportunity. Since the new model launched in December, many member companies have expanded their participation by joining Communities that align with their work and technical priorities. This broader involvement strengthens SNIA’s collaborative ecosystem and brings even more diverse perspectives into our shared efforts to shape the future of data.

From Vision to Action

This isn’t just an administrative change—it’s a philosophical shift. As SNIA Board Chair Dr. J Metz explained on a recent podcast, the new model encourages deeper, broader participation across the organization’s many technical efforts. The new system fosters an open, integrated environment where members can collaborate freely, learn from peers, and lead new initiatives.

Whether a company is innovating on storage interfaces, driving sustainability in IT, exploring the edge, or tackling AI’s impact on data infrastructure, the new model lets them dive in without delay or added cost.
