Welcome to Meet the Members, a blog series that showcases the innovation and collaboration of our member organizations. Each post features a different SNIA member and explores how they contribute to the advancement of the data storage industry.
In this edition, we speak with Egide Murisa, Industry Standards Engineer at Molex, about the company’s role in the storage ecosystem, their involvement in SNIA, and what excites them about the future of storage technology.
Q: Tell us a little about your company.
A: Molex is a global manufacturer of electronic connectivity solutions that enable reliable data and power delivery across many industries, including enterprise computing and data centers. In the storage ecosystem, Molex is widely recognized for high-performance interconnect technologies designed to support mechanical reliability and signal integrity requirements of modern storage and server platforms.
We focus on enabling robust, standards-based connectivity so customers can confidently deploy scalable storage and server systems as interface speeds continue to rise and platforms become denser.
Q: What inspired your company to join SNIA?
A: SNIA is an important forum for industry alignment around interoperability and practical adoption. Standards shape how the storage ecosystem evolves, and interconnect requirements must be aligned early. Through SNIA, Molex collaborates with other members to influence outcomes that benefit the broader industry. I initially became involved as the Molex representative in technical work groups focused on storage connectivity, and I currently serve as Secretary of the STA Board of Directors. STA connects companies across the SAS ecosystem so we can align roadmaps, interoperability, and real-world deployment considerations.
Q: What has been the biggest benefit of SNIA membership?
A: A key benefit of SNIA membership is the ability to collaborate with peers across the storage industry to address shared challenges and advance interoperability. This alignment becomes even more crucial as bandwidth increases and associated demands on performance and reliability grow. Molex engages with SNIA through technical collaboration and active participation in its technical work groups and communities, including the SFF TA TWG, STA, and the StorageAI Community. These groups provide a structured way to stay aligned with evolving requirements, contribute interconnect and implementation perspectives, and help ensure interoperability across the ecosystem.
Q: What unique expertise does your company bring to SNIA and the broader storage industry?
A: Molex brings deep expertise in the design and high-volume manufacturing of high-speed interconnects for demanding storage environments. By translating system-level requirements into validated, scalable interconnect solutions, Molex helps SNIA advance interoperable specifications that perform reliably in real-world deployments.
Q: What SAS-based products or solutions does your company offer?
A: Molex offers a broad portfolio of SAS-related interconnect solutions for enterprise servers and storage systems, including high-speed connector systems and cable assemblies engineered for reliable SAS connectivity in dense, performance-driven platforms. As data environments evolve, storage infrastructure must deliver more bandwidth, higher density, and consistent uptime. Molex helps meet these demands with interconnect solutions that support high-speed performance and enable compact, serviceable designs for enterprise and data center deployments.
