COLORADO SPRINGS, CO., November 4, 2020 - The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) announced its 2020-2021 Board of Directors and Technical Council (TC) members. As a globally recognized and trusted authority, SNIA’s mission is to lead the storage industry in developing and promoting vendor-neutral architectures, standards, and educational services that facilitate the efficient management, movement, and security of information.
“2020 has been a year of change, renewed commitment and investment for the future by the industry” said Michael Oros, SNIA Executive Director. “Taking on the changing world, we have new representatives from several industry companies that have joined the SNIA Board from Cisco Systems, Kioxia, NetApp, and Pure Storage. In addition, Dell has also joined the Technical Council, and together we look forward to the new industry engagements and technical work that is already underway with SNIA’s 2,500 storage industry experts from around the world.”
SNIA has reaffirmed its key vision to be “All Things Storage,” with a focus on responsibility and accountability to its members, its alliance partners, and end users worldwide. “SNIA is taking the opportunity to strengthen its relationships, both inside and outside the organization,” said Dr. J Metz, Chair of SNIA’s Board of Directors. “We understand the importance of leading by example - creating stronger bonds of communication and technical responsibility. SNIA has the advantage of representing a diverse ecosystem of storage technology, and we are taking steps to maintain its reputation of trust and reliability throughout the industry.”
The SNIA Board sees a need to synthesize several initiatives in 2021. In addition to its award-winning work in standards and specifications, SNIA will address broader themes in Management, Security, and Computational Storage. “The next few years will see a cross-pollination of these areas of technology,” Dr. Metz said, “and SNIA is uniquely positioned to take on the task of managing the inter-relationships of those technology trends.”
