The bundle includes a new white paper focused on how Swordfish helps manage NVM Express® (NVMe®) technology

Santa Clara, CA – February 1, 2024 – SNIA's Storage Management Initiative (SMI) today announced SNIA Swordfish v1.2.6 is now available for public review. SNIA Swordfish provides a standardized approach to manage storage and servers in hyperscale and cloud infrastructure environments.

“The SNIA Swordfish v1.2.6 bundle provides important new features to the hyperscale and cloud infrastructure environments,” said Richelle Ahlvers, SNIA Board of Directors Vice Chair and SMI Chair. “The SNIA Swordfish’s standardized approach to storage management leads to streamlined implementation, scalability and increased cost savings.”
Key features of the new release include:

  • New “NVMe-oF and Swordfish” white paper, which discusses how NVMe® over Fabrics (NVMe-oF™) configurations are represented in Swordfish Application Programming Interface (API)
  • New metrics for FileSystem, StoragePool, StorageService, and enhancements to VolumeMetrics
  • New mapping and masking models using Connections in the Fabric model and deprecation of StorageGroups
  • Support for new volume properties: ProvidingStoragePool, ChangeStripSize, (ALUA) to manage reservations
  • Enhancements to NVMe Domain Management, including ALUA support
  • Updates to NVMe namespaces, such as simplified Logical Block Address (LBA) Format representation and multiple namespace management
