Santa Clara, CA., August 6, 2025 - SNIA, a not-for-profit global organization for technologies related to handling and optimizing data, yesterday received the 2025 FMS Best of Show: Most Innovative Memory Technology Award for the EDSFF E2 Form Factor and the SNIA Persistent Memory (PM) and Compute Express Link® (CXL®) Memory Hackathon Program. The FMS Best of Show awards are one of the highest honors given at FMS: the Future of Memory and Storage event, recognizing outstanding achievement and innovation.

“We are proud to recognize SNIA industry standards in two technology areas,” said Jay Kramer, Chair of the Awards Program and President of Network Storage Advisors, Inc. “The EDSFF E2 specification, developed by multiple SNIA member companies, takes advantage of the already established EDSFF connector, pinout, and functionality, allowing the ecosystem to easily and rapidly adopt this form factor as an alternative to hard disk drives in high-capacity storage environments. The PM and CXL Memory Hackathon Program, based on the SNIA NVM Programming Model Specification, facilitates the knowledge and use of new and innovative memory solutions for personal and professional development in every environment, honing skills for new markets and opportunities in organizational environments.”

“SNIA is honored to receive this Award from FMS,” said Anthony Constantine, Co-Chair of the SNIA SFF Technical Work Group and Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at Micron Technology. “Development and approval of the SFF-TA-1042 (EDSFF E2) specification took place in only two months, showing the support and collaborative approach of SNIA technical work by multiple companies and the nimbleness of the SNIA specification process.”

“The rapid growth of AI is driving unprecedented demand for high-bandwidth, high-capacity memory solutions,” said Arthur Sainio, Chair of the SNIA Persistent Memory Special Interest Group and Director, Product Marketing at SMART Modular Technologies. “We are honored that SNIA’s educational program has been recognized for its work in developing persistent memory and CXL memory exercises to enable a better understanding of how to use existing application programming interfaces (APIs) to program these new types of memory, as well as where further research and development might benefit.”
