Santa Clara, CA., August 7, 2024 - SNIA, the global expert and trusted authority for technologies related to handling and optimizing data, today received the FMS Best of Show: Most Innovative Memory Technology Award for the SNIA Enterprise and Datacenter Standard Form Factor (EDSFF) family of specifications. The FMS Best of Show award is one of the highest honors given at FMS: the Future of Memory and Storage event, recognizing outstanding achievement and innovation.
“The memory and storage industry recognized the need to have a standard form factor for solid state storage with a common connector, pinout, and the flexibility to address different sizes and storage models from workstations to data centers,” said Jay Kramer, Chairman of the Awards Program and President of Network Storage Advisors, Inc. “We are proud to recognize the SNIA SFF Technology Affiliate (SFF TA) Technical Work Group with its release of the SNIA Enterprise and Datacenter Standard Form Factor (EDSFF). It provides a flexible framework for supporting multiple device form factors built for different usages under a common connector with a set of functional, electrical, and thermal requirements.”
“The SNIA SFF Technology Affiliate is honored to receive this Award from FMS,” said Paul Coddington, Co-Chair of the SNIA SFF TA and Engineer at Amphenol Corporation. “The EDSFF family of specifications, while starting as an SSD form factor, has expanded to more devices such as computational accelerators, Network Interface Cards (NICs), and the JEDEC® CXL® Memory Module (CMM). EDSFF is able to scale into various storage models from workstations to data centers and eliminates the problem of having multiple connectors and dedicated regions in the server for storage, memory, NICs, and other devices.”
SNIA is a not-for-profit global organization made up of corporations, universities, startups, and individuals. The members collaborate to develop and promote vendor-neutral architectures as well as international standards and specifications.
